Khazali

Khazali

Hailing from north-west London, singer-songwriter Khazali made his debut on Slow Dance’s first compilation in 2016 with Ode to Mark (ft. Minnie Bunce), a 2-minute spring-time influenced experimental pop track which made a small splash. Sonically reminiscent of Blood Orange, Sampha and Drake, Khazali’s music is accessible and playlist-friendly. Garnering an organic interest in the depths of the electronic indie underground, with over 100,000 Soundcloud plays and spots on Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds’ and ‘Counter’ playlists. Taking a step back from his solo efforts, he joined Anglo-Belgian electronica-pop outfit VRWRK in 2017, which resulted in ‘On the Outside’ (a name lifted from Ode to Mark’s lyrics), a conceptual LP and dance music education, and a stint of festival performances in Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as shows in London’s iconic Corsica Studios and Birthdays, and more. With ‘Stories’, Khazali returns to his bedroom solo experiment, with hazy lyrics lifted from his 15-year-old dream journals, and is a peek into his plans for an upcoming 2020 EP. Since its release, this track has been played multiple times on Radio 1xtra, Jamz Supernova show, BBC Introducing London and featured on Hypemachine.
